The same person often arrives twice — once through a form and once by phone. Duplicate detection compares on e-mail, phone, mobile and company name.
How the matching works
It is deliberately fuzzy, because exact matching catches almost nothing in practice.
- Phone and mobile — compared on the last ten digits, so +91 98200 00000 and 9820000000 are the same number.
- Company — legal suffixes are ignored, so “Kirti Engineering Pvt Ltd” matches “Kirti Engineering”.
- E-mail — case and spacing ignored.
Choosing what happens
- Go to Settings → Business profile and find the duplicates section.
- Turn detection on or off.
- Choose which fields to match on.
- Choose whether a duplicate is blocked outright or allowed in and flagged.
- Choose whether to check across modules — so a lead is matched against customers too.
- Choose whether the Similar data tab appears on records.
The Similar data tab
When a record has possible matches, this tab lists them with what they matched on, so you can open the other one and decide. Nothing is merged automatically.
