The permissions manual, checked line by line

Eight pages covering the part of the product people get wrong most often, and three bugs found while writing them, because a page has to name the screen you use and twice there wasn’t one.

What is there now

Roles and permissions, who sees what, the org chart, owner and assigned and marked, restricting somebody to their own location, sharing rules, circles and groups, and giving one person more or less. They replace three older pages, one of which still described a Teams screen that no longer exists.

Every page carries a worked example with real figures, the thing that catches people out, and what each setting will not do, which is usually the half that costs an afternoon. The pictures are the running product, not drawings.

Written a day ago and held back

These were finished yesterday and not published, because the pass that checks them against the code stopped early and reported no corrections, which reads exactly like clean, and meant never checked.

Checked properly, the same pages needed 169 corrections across 542 traced claims, and a second reviewer reading adversarially rejected 26 of the proposed corrections as themselves wrong. Publishing a confident wrong sentence about permissions is how somebody ends up sharing what they meant to keep.

Three bugs came out of writing it

A page has to say which screen you use. Three times there was no screen, and once the screen refused what it offered: the custom-module grant above, a sharing rule matching on conditions that could not be saved by any route, and a warehouse that could not be put in a branch.

None of them threw an error anybody would see. They are the reason the documentation took a day longer than writing it should have.

1 GB storage per workspace (organisation)

Only want this one module?

Individual modules are sold on their own alongside the plans. See every module’s price.

What about storage?

A single module includes 1 GB of storage per workspace (organisation) and Full Suite includes 5 GB per workspace (organisation): documents, attachments, file versions and photographs, counted together for everyone in it, not per user. Add more at any time in tiers, or move to Full Suite and take the larger allowance with it. Nothing is deleted if you run close; uploads are refused with a reason, and what you already have stays exactly where it is.

Annual or monthly?

Both. Annual works out cheaper per month and is charged once at the start; monthly costs a little more and can be stopped at the end of any cycle. The card shows the per-user-per-month figure on both, so the two are comparable at a glance rather than by arithmetic.
