A plan changed in the morning was back to its old numbers by lunch

The pricing page was blamed for not reflecting plan changes. It could not reflect what the platform was no longer holding: the seed was writing its own numbers back over yours on every deploy.

Four prices, and no answer to why

The pricing page showed each plan’s name, its price, and a short list of highlights written by hand. What it never showed was the thing a person is actually comparing: which modules the plan switches on, and how many users, records and e-mails it allows.

Because those highlights were written by hand, they had no connection to the plans themselves. A module switched on for Growth in the platform appeared nowhere on the website, and nobody would find out until a customer asked why they had paid for something they could not see.

Four faults, and the last one was the real one

The endpoint the website reads did not return a plan’s modules or its limits at all. However often the page refreshed, there was nothing new to show, which is why this looked like a caching problem and was not only that.

The page also held its copy of the plans for six hours. A price corrected at ten in the morning was still wrong at three in the afternoon.

When the platform could not be reached, the theme filled the gap with prices written into it long ago. A visitor could not tell a real price from an invented one, which is worse than showing nothing.

And underneath all of it: the database seed was rewriting every plan on every deploy. Seat counts, limits, modules, copy and prices were all upserted back to the values written in the seed file. The page was being blamed for not reflecting plan changes that the platform was no longer holding.

How that one was found, and what it means for you

By the timestamps. All four plans carried a last-modified time inside the same forty milliseconds, twice in one morning. No person edits four plans in forty milliseconds; a seed does.

Plans, prices and add-on names are now created if they are missing and then left alone. The one real cost is that a newly shipped module no longer switches itself on for an existing plan. That is a commercial decision, and the admin screen is where decisions belong.

If you changed a plan before today, check it. A change made and then reverted by a deploy leaves nothing on screen to say so, and nothing in the audit log either, because a seed is not a person. The plan screen now shows what it will keep showing.

What the page shows now

▤

Which modules

Each plan folds out the modules it switches on, by name, counted in the summary above them.

◔

What it allows

Users, records, storage, API calls a day and e-mails a month, read from the plan itself.

⚙

Within ten minutes

A change made in the platform reaches the page in ten minutes rather than six hours.

✓

Never invented

If the platform cannot be reached, the last real prices stand. Nothing is made up to fill the space.

Does this affect anything you already have?

Nobody was moved between plans, no subscription changed, and no invoice was affected. What a business was being charged was never in question.

But this one does come with something to check, which is unusual for a fix and worth saying plainly: if you edited a plan at any point before today, the numbers you set may have been reverted by a later deploy. Open the plan screen and confirm the seat counts, limits and prices are what you intended. From now on they will stay as you leave them.

Pricing

Start with what you need. Grow into the rest.

Per user, per month. Every plan carries the whole product’s foundations (custom fields, roles, reports, documents and notifications) and differs only in how many modules are switched on. Change plan whenever you like; nothing is re-entered and nothing is lost.

1 GB storage per workspace (organisation)

Only want this one module?

Individual modules are sold on their own alongside the plans. See every module’s price.

What about storage?

A single module includes 1 GB of storage per workspace (organisation) and Full Suite includes 5 GB per workspace (organisation): documents, attachments, file versions and photographs, counted together for everyone in it, not per user. Add more at any time in tiers, or move to Full Suite and take the larger allowance with it. Nothing is deleted if you run close; uploads are refused with a reason, and what you already have stays exactly where it is.

Annual or monthly?

Both. Annual works out cheaper per month and is charged once at the start; monthly costs a little more and can be stopped at the end of any cycle. The card shows the per-user-per-month figure on both, so the two are comparable at a glance rather than by arithmetic.
