Mark to picked people, and marked nobody

You picked three colleagues to keep in the loop, pressed Save, and the record saved. Nobody was marked. Nothing failed, nothing was refused, and the field was empty again when you came back.

A field that accepted an answer and threw it away

Mark to is how somebody sees a record they do not own. The owner owns it, the assignee works on it, and anybody marked can read it: read it, and nothing more. It is on leads, companies, customers, deals, tasks, visits, vendors, projects, manufacturing orders, quality inspections, subscriptions, sales and purchase documents, and on any module a business has built for itself.

On all of them, it did nothing. You opened the picker, chose people, saved, and the save succeeded, because as far as the record was concerned there was nothing unusual about it. The list of people never arrived. It was dropped in transit, one step before the part of the product that files it, and the part that files it had been waiting for it since the day it was written.

The form calls the field one name and the thing that checks the form was built expecting another. Anything the checker does not recognise is quietly discarded rather than refused, which is ordinarily a protection. Here it discarded the answer and let the rest through.

Why it looked like it worked

On a new record the people simply vanished. On an existing one it was more convincing: the form opens showing whoever is already marked, because reading them back always worked. So you would add a fourth name to three, save, and see four. Come back tomorrow and there are three.

A save that fails tells you. This one did the opposite: it reported success and kept the part of your answer it had understood. There was no error to search for and nothing in the record to suggest anything had gone missing.

What this means for you

✓

Marking works

Pick people on any record that offers Mark to. They are saved, and they can read it.

▤

Sales documents have the field

The catalogue has offered Mark to on an invoice all along and the editor never drew it. It sits beside Owner now.

◱

Nothing else moved

Owners and assignees were never affected. Only the people kept in the loop were being lost.

⚙

A quieter history

Opening a record and saving it unchanged no longer writes a history entry, which had started burying the edits that were real.

Does this affect anything you already have?

Nothing changes on its own, and nothing you can see was lost: what a record shows as marked today is what it will show tomorrow. Records marked before this are untouched.

What was lost was never stored: every person picked in a Mark to box on a record that was then saved. There is no way to recover those choices, because they were discarded on arrival rather than written somewhere wrong. If you marked people on something important and wondered why they never mentioned it, this is why. It is worth a second pass over the records where it mattered.

One thing to expect: because the field works now, marking somebody genuinely grants them sight of that record. That is what it was always meant to do, and until today it was not doing it.

1 GB storage per workspace (organisation)

Only want this one module?

Individual modules are sold on their own alongside the plans. See every module’s price.

What about storage?

A single module includes 1 GB of storage per workspace (organisation) and Full Suite includes 5 GB per workspace (organisation): documents, attachments, file versions and photographs, counted together for everyone in it, not per user. Add more at any time in tiers, or move to Full Suite and take the larger allowance with it. Nothing is deleted if you run close; uploads are refused with a reason, and what you already have stays exactly where it is.

Annual or monthly?

Both. Annual works out cheaper per month and is charged once at the start; monthly costs a little more and can be stopped at the end of any cycle. The card shows the per-user-per-month figure on both, so the two are comparable at a glance rather than by arithmetic.
