Six controls that took your answer and dropped it

A rule that said “only over one lakh” governed every invoice. A calculator showed ₹0.00 whatever you typed. Terms printed on the paper copy and vanished on the link you sent the customer.

Found by writing the manual for them

We have been documenting the settings screens one at a time, and a page has to say what a control does. Six times over, the honest answer turned out to be “less than it says”.

None of these failed. Not one produced an error, a red box or a line in a log. Each took an answer, reported success, and quietly did something narrower, which is why they had gone unreported.

An approval condition that never applied

“Only invoices over one lakh need approval” is most of the reason conditions exist on an approval rule. The condition was being ignored: a rule carrying one behaved exactly like a rule carrying none, so every document of a governed kind waited for a decision.

The cause is two arguments the wrong way round, in a call the compiler had been told not to check. Reversed, the test asked the document whether it had any conditions, a document has none, and “no conditions” means “applies to everything”.

Nobody had written an approval rule in a live business yet, so nothing was actually held up. It would have been, on the first one.

A calculator that showed nothing

Settings › Taxes has a Try a calculation box: amount, rate, both states, price-includes-tax, export. It was broken twice, which is why it looked unfinished rather than wrong: it discarded all seven boxes and computed a fixed example instead, and then read the answer from the wrong place and printed ₹0.00 for everything.

Either fault alone would have been noticed within a day. Together they produced a dialog that showed nothing at all, and an empty box reads as “not built yet”.

The other four

▤

Terms on a share link

The PDF printed your template’s terms; the link the customer opened showed none. One character apart, on the two places a customer reads.

◱

TDS section fields

Kind, Section and Applies to stayed editable on a saved row and the save took none of them. Shown and locked now, with the reason.

⚙

Deleting a group

The guard that stops you removing a group people still belong to was asking for rules under the old name, so it found none and stopped nothing.

✓

Approvals routed to a list

The “Which circle” picker was listing project groups instead, the wrong kind of list, and for most people an empty one.

Two things we corrected rather than fixed

A TDS section has a Yearly threshold hinted “no deduction below this”. Nothing reads it: a payment is deducted at the full rate whatever it is worth. Rather than invent a rule the product does not apply, the hint now says so, and the judgement stays with you.

Where two active TDS rows cover one section, the rate a payment took was whichever the database happened to return first. The narrowing by party type still is not applied, but at least the same payment now gets the same answer twice.

We would rather tell you a switch does nothing than let you believe it does.

Does this affect anything you already have?

Nothing is rewritten and nothing changes on its own. Documents already raised keep their numbers, their totals and their terms.

Two are worth a minute. If you wrote an approval rule with a condition on it, check what it is governing now. It will be less than it was, which is what you asked for. And if you have ever sent a customer a share link to a document, open one: the terms are on it now.

1 GB storage per workspace (organisation)

Only want this one module?

Individual modules are sold on their own alongside the plans. See every module’s price.

What about storage?

A single module includes 1 GB of storage per workspace (organisation) and Full Suite includes 5 GB per workspace (organisation): documents, attachments, file versions and photographs, counted together for everyone in it, not per user. Add more at any time in tiers, or move to Full Suite and take the larger allowance with it. Nothing is deleted if you run close; uploads are refused with a reason, and what you already have stays exactly where it is.

Annual or monthly?

Both. Annual works out cheaper per month and is charged once at the start; monthly costs a little more and can be stopped at the end of any cycle. The card shows the per-user-per-month figure on both, so the two are comparable at a glance rather than by arithmetic.
