Two reports over the same invoices gave two different totals

One report answered gross and the other net, with nothing on either saying which. That is the kind of disagreement that stays quiet for months, because both numbers look perfectly reasonable on their own.

What was wrong before

Sales over time counted a credit note against the month it was raised in, because a credit note is a sale being taken back. Sales by customer left credit notes out altogether.

So the same invoices came to two different totals on two screens (one gross, one net), and nothing on either said which you were looking at. It also made the table itself wrong: a customer who bought and then sent it all back still stood at the top of “who buys the most”, on the strength of an order they no longer had.

What counts as a sale

A credit note now counts against the customer it was raised for, so both reports answer the same question the same way.

The number of invoices, the outstanding balance and the last invoiced date still count invoices only. A credit note carries no balance of its own (what it did to the balance is already on the invoice it credits), and counting it as a document would halve the average sale of anybody who had ever taken a return.

A number that never came back

Deleting the newest quotation, invoice or order is supposed to hand its number back, so the sequence has no hole in it. It did not. The number was quietly burned, and the next document skipped past it.

It looked the counter up against the branch the document was raised at, while the counter itself is kept for the business as a whole, so it never found one, and gave up without saying so. Numbers skipped in the past stay where they are: winding a live counter backwards over history is not something to do quietly, and a gap already there is harmless.

Two smaller things

Mobile can now be shown on the customer and lead lists. It was always stored, carried across when a lead converts, and compared by the duplicate check, but no list would show it and the column picker did not offer it. It is off until you turn it on, under the columns button.

Importing customers from a spreadsheet, a plain City, State or Country column now fills the billing address. Customers keep those as billing fields, so a file written for leads (or exported from anywhere else) matched nothing and the address was dropped without a word. Shipping still has to be named, so the two cannot be confused.

Does this affect anything you already have?

If you have ever raised a credit note, Sales by customer will now show a lower figure than it did yesterday. Nothing was lost and no invoice changed. The report was counting returns as sales, and has stopped. The customers affected are the ones who sent something back.

If you have never raised one, that report reads exactly as before.

Nothing needs re-importing, no document was renumbered, and the numbers already skipped stay skipped.

Only want this one module?

Individual modules are sold on their own alongside the plans. See every module’s price.

What about storage?

A single module includes 1 GB of storage per workspace (organisation) and Full Suite includes 5 GB per workspace (organisation): documents, attachments, file versions and photographs, counted together for everyone in it, not per user. Add more at any time in tiers, or move to Full Suite and take the larger allowance with it. Nothing is deleted if you run close; uploads are refused with a reason, and what you already have stays exactly where it is.

Annual or monthly?

Both. Annual works out cheaper per month and is charged once at the start; monthly costs a little more and can be stopped at the end of any cycle. The card shows the per-user-per-month figure on both, so the two are comparable at a glance rather than by arithmetic.
