Scan a card, check it, and where each field goes

The camera finds the card and fires by itself, or reads a QR code. The card page shows every field, the back can be added afterwards, and filing puts each field into the record you chose.

Taking the photograph

  • Card: hold the card inside the frame. A yellow box follows the card once its edges are found, and the photograph is taken as soon as it is still. The shutter button always works too.
  • QR code: for a card that carries one. Point at the code; on most Android phones it is read at once, and on others press the button. A vCard in the code fills every field exactly, and a link to a contact file is fetched and read.
  • The card opens straight away, and a scan runs across the photograph while it is read. Reading starts as soon as the photograph reaches the server, and usually takes a few seconds with AI.

The back

The front is read first. Under the photograph are Front and Add the back: press it to photograph the other side. Both sides are read again, and what the back adds fills the fields that are still empty. Nothing you have already typed or corrected is changed.

The fields

Name, Designation and Company name; up to four mobiles and three phones; up to three emails; Website and GST number; the whole Address as printed, with its City, State, Pincode and Country; Services (what they offer, their expertise, the software or brands they deal in); More details (anything else printed on the card); and Notes, your own.

A number the reader filed as a mobile when it is a landline, or the other way round, moves across with the arrows beside it. A field the reader was unsure of carries a warning mark.

The lines read off the card

Under the form, every line the reader made out is a button. Tap one, then the field it belongs in. For Address, Services, More details and Notes the line is added to what is there, so an address printed on three lines can be put together line by line.

Where each field goes

File it as chooses the record, and the line under it says where the fields will go.

The voice note

A voice note recorded with the card goes onto the record as an attachment that plays where it is. Its words are written out and added to the record as a comment, under the name of whoever recorded it, once only. When it is written out after the card is filed, the comment is added then. See Voice notes written out by AI.

Keep it and Later sit in a bar above the quick bar along the bottom of the screen, so they can always be pressed on a phone.
