The balance sheet is in Books, Financial reports, on its own tab. It is built from the same books the trial balance reads, so every invoice, bill, payment, expense and salary is in it without a journal written by hand.
- Open Books, Financial reports and choose Balance sheet.
- It opens at today. Pick another date in As at to see it on that day, the last day of March for the year-end.
- What the business has: bank and cash accounts, what customers owe, input GST to claim, stock and fixed assets.
- What it owes: suppliers, GST and TDS to pay, salaries and reimbursements owed to staff, advances from customers.
- What the owners have in it: capital, and the profit not yet closed, in two lines: Profit this financial year, and profit from earlier years when there is any.
The line at the top says whether the two sides meet. If it shows a difference, a journal is out of balance or an opening balance was entered on one side only.
It needs the Financial reports permission. People with the Accountant module see the same figures under Accountant, Trial balance and ledgers.
