Download in Documents saves the real file, and a folder’s zip holds what is in it

Download in Documents has not saved a working file since the store was rebuilt in early September. Lately it saved a short error message under the file's name, so what came down would not open, and behind that a folder's zip was being built empty. Both are put right: a file saves as you stored it, and a folder's zip holds its files.

What changed

📄

The file you stored

Download in the file list, in a file’s ⋯ menu and in its details panel saves the file itself, under its own name. The button was asking the server for an address that does not exist, and the reply, an error message, was saved as if it were the file.

📁

A folder comes down whole

Download as a zip puts every file in the folder that you may download into the zip, with its subfolders kept as folders. The zip was being made with nothing in it, which the error message had hidden.

🔗

Linked files go in too

A file linked from Google Drive or Dropbox goes into the zip with the rest, fetched from the drive it lives on, the same way its own Download fetches it.

📝

Nothing left out without a word

If a file cannot go in, because the account that linked it was disconnected or its bytes are missing, the zip carries a Not included.txt that names the file and says why.

👤

Your own files in a shared folder

A file you uploaded into a folder shared with you as view only is still yours to download, and it is now in that folder’s zip. It used to be left out.

Does this change anything you already have?

Nothing you stored was lost or changed: every file was safe on the server the whole time. A file you downloaded since 14 September that would not open was that error message, so download it again and it opens. In the Android app, Download in Documents is put right by the next app update.

1 GB storage per workspace (organisation)

Only want this one module?

Individual modules are sold on their own alongside the plans. See every module’s price.

What about storage?

A single module includes 1 GB of storage per workspace (organisation) and Full Suite includes 5 GB per workspace (organisation): documents, attachments, file versions and photographs, counted together for everyone in it, not per user. Add more at any time in tiers, or move to Full Suite and take the larger allowance with it. Nothing is deleted if you run close; uploads are refused with a reason, and what you already have stays exactly where it is.

Annual or monthly?

Both. Annual works out cheaper per month and is charged once at the start; monthly costs a little more and can be stopped at the end of any cycle. The card shows the per-user-per-month figure on both, so the two are comparable at a glance rather than by arithmetic.
