Roles that know who reports to whom
A role hierarchy, organisation-wide defaults per module, and sharing rules, so a manager sees their team and nobody else's.

What changed
Roles were a flat list of labels. A sales manager could be given a wider scope than their own records or the whole database, with nothing in between that matched how a business is actually arranged.
A role now reports to another, and somebody sees what everybody beneath them owns. Two people on the same role stay strangers to each other unless that role is set to share with its peers, because a VP of Engineering reading the VP of Marketing’s deals is not what being the same height means.
Three layers, in this order
The organisation's default
Per module: private, or public for reading, writing or deleting. Anything public settles it for everybody at once. The hierarchy is not even consulted.
The hierarchy
Managers see downwards. Sibling departments cannot see into each other, and neither can the people in them.
The exceptions
Sharing rules, by record owner or by condition, granting a role or a team more than the default. A rule can only ever widen.
The organisation tree
The whole hierarchy drawn as a chart, with headcount and which roles share sideways.
Superiors allowed
A manager does not inherit what a rule gives their team: a rule is a sideways gift, not a promotion. Tick it when they should.
Search obeys it too
The search box runs through the same filter the lists do, so it can never surface a record the person could not otherwise open.
Does this affect anything existing?
Nothing changes until you use it. No role reports to anything yet and every module defaults to private, which is exactly the behaviour you had. Turn it on branch by branch.
A sharing rule can never narrow access. That is the property worth relying on: to know the least somebody can see, read the organisation default and stop.
Two faults were found and fixed while building this. A read-only sharing rule was allowing edits, because reaching a record through the hierarchy and having it shared with you were being treated as the same thing. And a role could be set to report to its own subordinate, which the tree walk would never have finished.

5 GB storage per workspace (organisation)
Only want this one module?
Individual modules are sold on their own alongside the plans. See every module’s price.
What about storage?
A single module includes 1 GB of storage per workspace (organisation) and Full Suite includes 5 GB per workspace (organisation): documents, attachments, file versions and photographs, counted together for everyone in it, not per user. Add more at any time in tiers, or move to Full Suite and take the larger allowance with it. Nothing is deleted if you run close; uploads are refused with a reason, and what you already have stays exactly where it is.
Annual or monthly?
Both. Annual works out cheaper per month and is charged once at the start; monthly costs a little more and can be stopped at the end of any cycle. The card shows the per-user-per-month figure on both, so the two are comparable at a glance rather than by arithmetic.
