If you already keep your architects and builders in a spreadsheet, bring them in at once rather than typing them.
Import
- Open Channel Partners and press the Import button at the top of the list.
- Choose your CSV or Excel file.
- Match each column to a box: Partner name, Firm, Kind, Phone, Email, City, Looked after by and so on.
- Check the preview and import.
- A row with the same phone, email or GSTIN as a partner already in the list is matched to them rather than added twice.
- Only Partner name is required.
Referrals are not imported here
Importing partners does not say who they referred. Record past referrals on the leads or customers themselves, or with Set on each. Remember that a customer credited today starts their window today.
Export
- The list: press the Export button at the top of the list for a spreadsheet of the partners shown.
- What they brought in: export the report What each channel partner brought in to CSV or PDF. See Reports: what each partner brought in.
Import and export follow permissions: Import and Export on Channel partners, given to a role in Roles and permissions.
Preparing the spreadsheet
- One row per partner, with a header row naming each column.
- Phone numbers in any format: they are matched on their last ten digits.
- Kinds spelled as they are in your list (Architect, Interior designer, Builder, Contractor, Consultant, Other), or add yours to the list first.
- Looked after by can be left out and set afterwards; without it, a partner is looked after by whoever imported them.
After importing
- Open the list and sort it by Added, newest first, to see what came in.
- Spot-check a few partners: their kind, phone and city.
- Set Looked after by on any who should belong to somebody other than you.
- Tell the team the partners are there, so they start choosing them in Referred by.
An import of the same file a second time matches the partners it already added on phone, email or GSTIN, rather than adding them again.
Exporting for an accountant
For a month-end check of what partners brought in, run the report What each channel partner brought in for last month and press CSV. Each row has the partner, their firm and kind, who looks after them, referrals, deals won, won value, quoted, invoiced, collected and collected before GST, ready to open in a spreadsheet.
