Type by voice, and Settings › Voice

Hold Alt+D in any box in JAI CRM, or the mic above a phone's keyboard, and speak: the words are typed where your cursor is, with your customers' and items' names spelt right and amounts written the Indian way.

Hold Alt+D (Option+D on a Mac) in any box in JAI CRM, say what you want to write, and let go. The words are typed where your cursor was: a lead’s notes, a task, a Charcha message, an email, a proposal. Press Esc while it listens to drop what you said. On a phone, and in the Android app, a round mic sits just above the keyboard whenever you are typing in a box: hold it and speak, or tap it if you chose tap.

Alt+H is different: it sends what you say to Hanu as a question. Both keys can be changed in Settings › Voice, and one key cannot do both.

Who writes out what you say

  1. The browser, free, in Chrome or Edge on a computer. The words appear as you speak. It listens in one language at a time and does not know your customers’ names.
  2. Hanu’s listener, when your business has it: Sarvam (in India, Hinglish and 22 Indian languages, about ₹0.50 a minute) or OpenAI (about ₹0.30 a minute), whichever the platform runs. It is given up to fifty names you are likely to say, your own words first, then the team’s, then your recent customers, leads and items. The Android app always uses it, because the app has no browser listener.
  3. The transcriber on our own server, when neither can. It is slower and less sure of names.

Each device chooses for itself in Settings › Voice › Who writes out what you say: Automatic, This browser, or Hanu’s listener. A business that wants nothing to cost credits sets Browser only for everyone.

Clean-up

LevelWhat it does
NoneExactly the words heard.
Light (free, the default)Removes um and uh, writes 2.5 lakh as ₹2,50,000, 50 thousand rupees as ₹50,000 and 1.2 crore as ₹1,20,00,000 (2 lakh units stays a count), puts names from your dictionary and your CRM right, and expands snippets. No AI.
Medium (AI)Light, then an AI pass that removes false starts, keeps only your correction (5 pm, actually 6 becomes 6 pm), adds full stops and makes a list when you listed things. It keeps your words and your language and never adds a fact.
High (AI)Medium, written out as clear sentences in the tone of the place: an email polite and complete, a chat short, a note plain. Still only what you said.

Medium and High use AI credits and need the AI clean-up switched on for your business. Where it is not, or it does not answer, your words are tidied as Light and you are told so. An admin sets the level for everyone in Settings › Voice › For the whole business; anyone can choose their own in Settings › Voice › How you speak › Clean-up, and switching back to Light stops the AI straight away.

Dictionary and snippets

Add a word as it should be written and how it gets misheard, for example Venkatesha Traders, often heard as when kate asha traders. Your own words are yours; offer one to the team and an admin approves it. Admins add team words directly. A snippet is a phrase you say and the text it puts in: say bank details and the account number and IFSC go in.

It also learns. When you put a name right straight after it was typed, before you leave the box, the spelling you typed is kept under Dictionary › Learned, with how it was heard, and used from then on. Only a spelling put right is learned: the two must sound alike, or what you typed must be a name in your CRM. A change of mind teaches nothing. Remove a learned word there, or an admin can switch learning off for the business.

In the Document and Presentation editors

The full Document and Presentation editors draw their pages themselves, so a key pressed inside them does not reach Type by voice. While one has your cursor, the mic shows at the bottom right, on a computer too: hold it and speak, and the words go in at the editor’s cursor, each new line as a new paragraph in a Document. In a Spreadsheet the words wait with Copy, so a whole cell is never replaced.

Hanu hears your names too

Holding Alt+H or Hanu’s mic now hands Hanu’s listener the same names, languages and way of writing Hindi as Type by voice, so he hears your customers and items right before he answers.

Hindi

Choose how Hindi is written: Roman (kal call karna), Mixed (Devanagari with English words kept in English), Devanagari, or English, which translates. This applies to Hanu’s listener; the browser writes what its chosen language gives.

History and privacy

Your last dictations are kept for the days your business chose (30 unless it changed it) and only you see them; you can clear one or all. Recordings are not kept unless an admin keeps them for 1, 7 or 30 days, and kept recordings count in the workspace’s storage. Passwords, keys and boxes marked as private are never typed into.

Something missing or wrong here? Tell us. A question that needed asking usually means a page that needed writing.
