Knowing what is not in the files matters as much as knowing what is. An entry you assume went to Tally, and did not, is a hole in the books that turns up at the year end.
Not sent, by design
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Quotations and proforma invoices | They are offers, not entries in the books |
| Sales orders, delivery challans, purchase orders, goods receipts | Commitments and movements, not money. Tally can hold orders. If you want them there, tell us while you test |
| Retainer documents themselves | A retainer is a request. The money received against it goes, as an advance |
| Drafts | A draft has not been issued |
Not sent yet, coming in later parts
| What | For now |
|---|---|
| Expenses from Books, and payments to staff | Enter them in Tally |
| Journals from Accountant, and opening balances | Enter them in Tally |
| Stock adjustments and transfers between warehouses | Enter them in Tally as stock journals |
| Documents in another currency | Enter them in Tally |
| Reverse-charge documents | Enter them in Tally |
| Write-offs of bad debts | The invoice goes. The write-off itself does not, so enter it in Tally |
| A separate GST registration per branch | Everything goes under the company’s registration in Tally. A branch with its own GSTIN in another state needs its own handling |
Not how it works
- It does not send on its own. You make the files and import them. A link that sends automatically, with a small program on the computer running Tally, is a later stage.
- It does not read from Tally. Payments recorded in Tally, or ledgers created there, do not come back to JAI CRM. Record payments here, so both places agree.
- It does not send e-invoice or e-way bill details. The IRN and e-way bill number stay on the document here.
- It does not split sales by GST rate into separate ledgers, or use cost centres.
- It has not been tested on Tally.ERP 9. It is written to work there, and testing with businesses while it carries its Beta label is how that will be confirmed.
