The files hold the whole of your business’s sales and purchases for the dates chosen, whoever raised each document. That is what your books need. It also means making them is a job for the accounts team, not for everybody.
The permissions
| Permission | Action | Allows |
|---|---|---|
| Tally, Tally set-up | View | Open the Tally screen and see the set-up |
| Tally, Tally set-up | Manage | Change the set-up: company, release, ledgers, voucher types, units, banks |
| Tally, Export to Tally | View | Check what will go, and see the History |
| Tally, Export to Tally | Export | Make the files and download them, now or from History |
Give them in Settings, Roles & permissions, on the role your accounts team holds. The business owner has them already. Anybody holding Tally set-up sees Integrations in their Settings list, which is where the Tally screen is opened from.
And permission to see what is sent
Each section also needs permission to see its records. Someone who cannot see purchase bills cannot send them to Tally either. The section is greyed out with the reason, rather than quietly left out of the files. A set of books that silently lacks the purchases would look complete, and it is not.
| To send | Also needs view on |
|---|---|
| Sales invoices and credit notes | Sales, Invoices and Sales, Credit notes |
| Payments received | Sales, Payments received |
| Purchase bills and debit notes | Procurement, Purchase bills and Procurement, Debit notes |
| Payments made | Procurement, Payments made |
Every change to the set-up and every export is written to the audit log, with who did it and when.
