A trader who keeps stock in Tally (Full Suite)
A Mumbai paper merchant sells from JAI CRM and its accountant files from Tally. In Set-up they choose TallyPrime 3.0 or later, set Send nothing dated before to 1 April, switch on stock items, and change two ledger names to match Tally: “Sales” becomes “Sales Accounts – GST” and “Round Off” becomes “Rounding Off”.
On the 3rd of each month the accounts executive chooses last month’s dates and ticks all four sections. The check shows 48 invoices, 3 credit notes, 31 payments received, 12 purchase bills and 9 payments made, with one invoice left out because it is in US dollars. They make the files, import masters then transactions, enter the dollar invoice by hand, and compare the Day Book count with the check. Stock in Tally now moves with every invoice and bill.
A services firm on CRM + Sales Documents
A Pune design studio has no stock and no purchases in JAI CRM, only invoices and the payments against them. Purchases are greyed out on their screen, with the message that Procurement is required, which is right for them. Stock items stay off.
A ₹1,00,000 design retainer invoice to a client in Pune goes as: client debited ₹1,18,000, Sales credited ₹1,00,000, Output CGST ₹9,000 and Output SGST ₹9,000. The client’s payment of ₹1,08,000, after deducting ₹10,000 TDS, goes as a receipt: bank ₹1,08,000 and TDS Receivable ₹10,000 debited, the client credited ₹1,18,000 against the invoice. The invoice is closed in Tally.
A shop with a till
A Jaipur stationery shop sells mostly to walk-in customers at the Point of sale counter. Each counter sale is an invoice with no customer, paid in cash. In Tally, every one goes to Walk-in Customers, taxed at the shop’s state as CGST and SGST, and the cash taken for it goes to the same ledger. At the end of each day, Walk-in Customers is back to nothing and Cash has gone up by the day’s takings.
An accountant starting a new Tally company
A CA takes on a new client who has used JAI CRM since April but never had books in Tally. They create the company in TallyPrime with GST and bill-wise details on, then leave every ledger name in Set-up as it comes. For the first export, from 1 April to today, they leave Also create the standard ledgers on.
The masters file creates Sales, Purchase, the eight GST ledgers, Round Off, Discount, the charges ledgers, TDS and bank ledgers, the customers, the vendors and the stock items. The transactions file brings six months of sales and purchases. From then on the switch is off, and each month only what is new goes.
