The tax invoice. Its owner is usually whoever will chase the payment, which is why many businesses route invoices differently from the quotations that preceded them.
What you would route on
Any field on the module can be used, including ones you have added yourself. These are the ones businesses reach for:
| Field | Why you would route on it |
|---|---|
| Customer | Keep a customer’s paperwork with their account manager. |
| Total | Large documents to somebody senior. |
| Branch | If you run more than one place of business. |
| Place of supply | Interstate vs within the state. |
| Due date | Short-credit invoices to the collections desk. |
| Amount due | Large outstanding to somebody senior. |
A worked example
A services firm leaves invoices with whoever raised the order for the first thirty days, then a separate collections process takes over. The rule is simply every record → the account manager, and the handover is done by people, not by the rule.
Caps and overflow
| Setting | Worth it here? |
|---|---|
| A cap per person | Occasionally — more useful on the collections side than on raising. |
| An overflow owner | Occasionally. |
Nothing stops you setting either — they are offered on every module. It is simply that a daily limit answers a question this module rarely asks.
