A production run. The owner is the supervisor answerable for it — releasing it, finishing it, and explaining a late start. Manufacturing orders call this field Answerable rather than Owner.
What you would route on
Any field on the module can be used, including ones you have added yourself. These are the ones businesses reach for:
| Field | Why you would route on it |
|---|---|
| Item being made | Product-line supervisors. |
| Warehouse | Which plant or line. |
| Quantity | Large runs to a senior supervisor. |
| Start date | Today’s runs to whoever is on shift. |
A worked example
A two-line factory routes manufacturing orders by warehouse, so each line’s supervisor owns their own runs. Where manufacturing notices are switched on, the released, finished and late-start alerts reach that person rather than everybody.
Caps and overflow
| Setting | Worth it here? |
|---|---|
| A cap per person | Yes. A supervisor can only genuinely run so many jobs at once. |
| An overflow owner | Yes. |
Where to go next
- Writing the rule
- When it runs — on create, on edit, or both
- Capping how much each person gets
- Where the overflow goes
