Money going back. Credit notes are worth routing deliberately, because they are the document most often raised in a hurry and least often followed up.
Worth routing to a single person rather than round-robin. Credit notes are about control, and a rota spreads responsibility until nobody has it.
What you would route on
Any field on the module can be used, including ones you have added yourself. These are the ones businesses reach for:
| Field | Why you would route on it |
|---|---|
| Customer | Keep a customer’s paperwork with their account manager. |
| Total | Large documents to somebody senior. |
| Branch | If you run more than one place of business. |
| Place of supply | Interstate vs within the state. |
| Reason | Returns to the warehouse team, pricing errors to accounts. |
A worked example
A distributor sends every credit note to the accounts supervisor regardless of who raised it, so there is always one person who can answer why the value went out.
Caps and overflow
| Setting | Worth it here? |
|---|---|
| A cap per person | Rarely. |
| An overflow owner | Rarely. |
Nothing stops you setting either — they are offered on every module. It is simply that a daily limit answers a question this module rarely asks.
