Credit for the first salesperson

Whether the salesperson whose deal opened the next one is shown as having brought it in, and what comes with Targets and Commission.

The tiles salesperson did the work of winning the customer’s trust. Whether they should be credited when the kitchen is sold is a decision each business makes differently, so each rule has its own answer in step 6.

Step 6, Credit for the Tiles salesperson, with three choices: None; Shown in the cross-sell report, selected, who brought in each deal and what it was won at; and A share of the new deal, not available, which comes with the Targets and Commission module.
Step 6: credit for the first salesperson, decided per rule.

None

The new deal is the new department’s alone. The first salesperson is still told when it opens and when it is won or lost, if step 8 says so, but the report on who brought deals in leaves out this rule’s deals.

Shown in the cross-sell report

The salesperson who owned the first deal is shown as the one who brought the new deal in. Reports, Cross-sell: who brought it in lists them with how many deals they passed on, how many were won, and the won value. The first deal’s Cross-sell card says so too.

It is the first deal’s owner at the time the report is run who is shown. If the tiles deal changes hands, so does the credit. Each deal is credited by the rule that opened it, so two rules from Tiles can treat credit differently.

A share of the new deal

Counting part of the kitchen deal towards the tiles salesperson’s target, and paying them commission on it, needs targets and commission plans, which come with the Targets and Commission module. Until then the choice is shown but cannot be picked. Rules set to show credit in the report will be ready to move to a share when it arrives.

Credit is not ownership

Whichever you choose, the new deal belongs to whoever step 4 gives it to. Credit decides only who is shown as having brought it in; it gives the first salesperson no right to see or change the new deal. Whether they can open it follows their own role, as for any deal.

Channel partner credit is separate. A customer referred by an architect stays credited to the architect on every new deal inside the partner’s window, whatever this rule says about the salesperson.

Rules without credit still count

A rule set to None still appears in Cross-sell: from one department to another, because that report is about departments, not people. Only the report on who brought deals in leaves it out.

The report reads each rule as it is now. Changing a rule from None to Shown in the report also shows the deals it opened before the change, and changing it back hides them again.
