Some customers have said they do not want to hear about anything else, and some contact people should never be the one a salesperson rings. With Cross-sell on, both can be marked.
On a customer
Open the customer and edit Do not contact in the Account section. Ticked, no cross-sell rule opens a deal for them, whichever rule, as long as the rule’s Do not contact safeguard is on, as it is to start with.
On a contact person
Open the person from the customer’s Contacts tab, or add one with Add contact. Under Primary contact there is Do not contact. Ticked, no rule opens a deal from a first deal that has them as its contact person. Somebody else at the same customer can still be the contact on another deal.
What it stops, and what it does not
- It stops a rule opening a deal, on its day and when a manager presses Open now. The waiting list and the first deal’s card say why, for example Not opened: Anil Sharma is marked Do not contact.
- It is checked on the day the deal would open, so ticking it on Thursday stops a deal due on Friday.
- It does not stop anybody writing to them or ringing them by hand, and it does not hide the customer.
- It does not unsubscribe them from emails. That is the unsubscribe link in your emails, which works separately.
- Converting a lead with several interests does not check it: that is somebody choosing, at that moment, to open those deals.
Who changed it
A change to Do not contact on a customer is written in the customer’s History, with who made it and when, like a change to any other field. Mark it the moment the customer asks, so a deal due the next morning does not open.
Do not contact appears only where Cross-sell is on. Marks already made are kept if the module is switched off, and count again when it is switched back on.
Marked by mistake
Untick it. Deals stopped while it was ticked are not tried again, because the moment has passed; if one should still happen, open the deal by hand or press Open now on any that are still waiting.
Leads
A lead has no Do not contact of its own. Mark the customer once the lead has converted, or the contact person on the deal.
