When you write a rule, some deals are usually already where it starts: tiles deals finalised last week, kitchens won last month. Opening deals for all of them at once, the moment you press Save, would flood a team with a hundred deals it never planned for. So a rule acts on deals that get there after it is saved, and asks about the rest.
Before you save
As you fill in step 1, the rule page counts the deals already there and names a few of them. It says, for example, 2 Tiles deals are there already (Kapoor Apartments: flat 1204 tiles, Verma Villa: bathroom tiles). The rule acts on deals that get there after it is saved.
- Left unticked, those deals are noted as already there and never open anything.
- Ticked, each goes on the waiting list with its own day, worked out from today as if it had just got there, and every safeguard still applies.
The same note is on the page when you edit the rule later, counting the deals still noted as already there, so you can change your mind at any time.
Switching a rule off and on
- Switching a rule off takes its waiting deals off the list; they will not open. Deals it already opened are untouched.
- Switching it back on looks again. Deals that got there while it was off, and the ones taken off the list, are treated as already there: they are left alone, and the message says how many.
- To open deals for them after all, edit the rule and tick the box at the bottom.
Changing which deals a rule looks at
If you change step 1, for example from Tiles finalised to Installation, deals already at the new point are treated as already there in the same way. Deals the rule has already put on the waiting list, opened or stopped are never looked at again by that rule.
A deal that arrives at the stage later by import, for example an old deal brought in from a spreadsheet already at Installation, counts as getting there after the rule was saved. Import such deals before switching a rule on, or switch it off while you import.
For a date rule
For a rule that starts near a date, “already there” means deals that already have that date filled in. Ticked, each opens on its own day worked out from its date, or at once if that day has passed.
